The woman running the place was delightful and very helpful. We had a kitchen, our own bathroom, and turndown service, so I thought it was pretty good value. Getting there takes some effort, though: it's down a hill and then up an unpaved street, which can get slippery in the rain.
It's a quiet spot very near the centre of Salento. The hosts were positive and really helpful, though they don't speak English.
Viviana gave us useful ideas for things to do, and the hostel is in a great location for a very good price. The rooms were spotless and the kitchen had everything we needed. It's a friendly, small-scale place, and we had a fantastic stay. We highly recommend Viviana's hostel!
The double room sat right beside the host's living space. There was a 20 cm opening above both the bedroom and bathroom doors, so sound carried everywhere. Our neighbors kept making noise until 5 a.m., and even after we suggested the host ask them to quiet down, the host did nothing. A perfect paradise, if you can ignore all that. Given the room prices, it's easy to find somewhere better in Salento.
Several items from the laundry we asked the owner to handle never made it back to us. I followed up, but she kept saying she would send them. During my stay in one of the apartments, she seemed to avoid taking responsibility, and the service from her and the staff left a lot to be desired.
