We got in around midnight after missing the last bus from Armenia to Salento, and the staff were really helpful about how to get there. The breakfast was amazing, with fresh fruit, juice, coffee, scambled eggs, arepa, and buñuelos. The linens were warm, cozy, and comfortable too. A wonderful change from staying in hostels. I definitely recommend it :D

La cabaña del Madrigal is behind el alto del coronel, and I found it a wonderful place. It can be booked through the Airbnb website.

Birds and parrots are about all you hear in this very peaceful area. The property is beautiful and has historical significance, since Simón Bolívar stayed here during one of his visits to Salento. The houses are in perfect condition and have all the comforts for an unforgettable stay in this charming town. It's just a few blocks from the main square, with a mini-market and pharmacy right across the street and restaurants within walking distance. There's plenty of free parking, and a craft brewery next door is due to open soon.

We felt completely at home here, and having the kitchen available to store food or make something simple helped. Breakfast came with the stay and was hearty enough to last us until lunch. The house has just five or six spacious bedrooms, so it never feels crowded. When we visited, we were the only guests. It’s a lovely old place in Salento, with Republican-era architecture and decorations tied to Antioquian colonization. You get a countryside feel while still being right in town, close to everything.
