Casa Pachamama

Hugo was such a warm, friendly host, and we had a very pleasant stay at hotel Pachamama. Our room was spacious and clean, with a couch and closet. It’s in a quiet spot outside the city centre, but the main square is just a 10-minute walk away. I’d recommend staying here.

I wouldn’t recommend staying here. On arrival, there was a mix-up with our booking: we’d reserved two room, but they only had one and wanted to charge us the price we’d agreed for two rooms. Hugo at reception was lovely and very polite, and a credit to the owner, Beatriz. When we called Beatriz to sort out the misunderstanding, she was extremely rude and hung up on my husband. Nobody told us about the kitchen facilities. The bedroom door was insecure and hard to lock, the TV didn’t work, and the beds hadn’t been made. At checkout, Beatriz was there, but we’d thought she was a guest. She never came to check us out or say goodbye, so we left the keys on the table. Salento has lots of B&Bs at similar prices, and its people are wonderful and welcoming. We wouldn’t return or recommend this place. Beatriz was rude and unprofessional.

The owners are very friendly and speak English well. It’s a great value for the price, one of the best places we’ve stayed in Colombia. The location is very good, about a 5-10 minute walk from the main square, with a beautiful view over town and the surrounding hills. Our room was clean, the shower was very good, and the WiFi worked well.

We ended up staying longer than planned because we enjoyed Salento and Casa Pachamama so much. We had two weeks to travel, so we took our time. Beatriz was warm and friendly, always making us feel good and helping with everything. She put her whole heart into it, and we almost felt at home. The cleaning woman Jolanda and Beatriz’s husband were lovely too, and happy to have a nice conversation. The room was comfortable and very clean, with a perfect bathroom for a warm shower and a really nice view from its little hill. The location worked perfectly for us: peaceful, yet only a five-minute walk into the centre of Salento. Beatriz was completely flexible and happy to let us stay a few more days. Thank you so much for a wonderful stay. We definitely recommend Casa Pachamama when you’re in Salento.
