Hotel Terasu Salento

The hammock outside our room was lovely, and the room itself was pleasant and comfortable, with quiet nights. I was often the only one at breakfast. We loved our stay at Terasu. My only complaint is the bathroom is tiny, and my knees felt like they were bumping against the wall when I used the toilet.

The room with the private jacuzzi was nice, but it got stuffy inside because there was no fan. The hotel is about ten minutes from town. Workers were very loud cooking breakfast at 6 AM every morning. On our last day, we asked them to arrange a car, but it arrived 30 minutes late, so we took an Uber instead. Ubers do operate in Salento, so it’s better to use one.

What made our two-day stay so memorable was the people working there. David at the restaurant was professional, attentive, and very friendly when helping us arrange dinner after we arrived at night following a long drive. Lindsay at reception was always perceptive when answering our questions. They were the loveliest people we met on our journey across Colombia. The design at Terasu is gorgeous, with a tropical, woody feel and thoughtful little touches in places like the living room and restaurant. It fits beautifully with the natural surroundings. The public hot tubs are a delight when it gets cooler in the late evening, as is the private tub in one of the rooms if you happen to be staying there. Breakfast combines a buffet with made-to-order dishes. Their signature 'calentado' is hearty and tasty, and don’t forget to pour yourself some coffee.

The staff were terrific, and I’d happily stay here again. Breakfast is included and really good. The sauna and massage are well worth enjoying, especially after horseback riding in the mountains. It’s just close enough to town for a comfortable walk, while being far enough away to have some peace in the evening. A great little place to stay in Salento.
