We came as a mother and daughter, and my daughter’s good Spanish helped since Bella, the hostess, doesn’t speak English. There could be a language barrier if you don’t speak Spanish, but Bella was kind and attentive, and a really good cook. Breakfast was delicious every morning and made to order. LCELN is up a steep walk from Salento, around 25 minutes uphill from town. You can take a Jeep (Willy) for about $7 or $20,000 cop. We did that once on our last day so we wouldn’t miss our flight. Walking down from LCELN to the quaint town is much easier and takes about 15 minutes. There are lots of tiendas selling handmade clothes, jewelry, and coffee, plus plenty of restaurants and cafes. Some have live music and very good local food. The place is quiet, with lovely views and thoughtfully furnished spaces, great food, and top-notch service. It’s not for people who need constant entertainment, several bars, 24-hour room service, loud TVs, babies crying, partygoers, or a chauffeur and private car to get around. We rated LCELN 10/10 and highly recommend it for a special experience. We’ll be back soon.

Bella, who lives next door and looks after the house, was an amazing cook and so attentive. She even packed breakfast for my 4am departure to catch a plane. The hosts also suggested coffee farms and drivers for getting around. Carlos was a great driver, flexible and helpful. The views are hard to beat: you can look down on Salento, see Cocora Valley on the other side of the house, and watch clouds and storms move through the mountains. The rooms have lovely private balconies. Casa en las nubes is a traditional Colombian house with beautiful modern updates. The rooms are a little dim, but still incredibly luxurious and comfortable. The hospitality felt like staying with close family, from the helpful planning before arrival to the care during the stay. If you’re going to Salento, treat yourself to a stay at Casa en Las Nubes.

Being so close to town while still feeling peaceful was ideal. The view was breathtaking, the rooms were spotless and beautifully designed, and the service was outstanding throughout. It was an unforgettable stay, highly recommend!

The photos don’t capture how lovely this place is. It’s a beautiful house with incredible views, very comfortable rooms, and fantastic design. The staff were extremely helpful. Highly recommended.

A real house in the clouds, with spectacular views and excellent service. Such a gem in Salento.
