Refugio Puente Explanacion Ecolodge

We had a confirmed Hostelworld booking that explicitly allowed late check-in, but when we arrived late in the evening, no one was there. Nobody answered the door or phone, even after we waited more than 15 minutes. After we tried to get in touch, the confirmed reservation was suddenly canceled. The location is remote, and there were very few alternatives at that hour. We only avoided being stranded because an Uber driver agreed to take us to Salento. We still had to check three accommodations before finding one with reception open. What should have been a relaxing stay became a stressful, avoidable late-night ordeal because the owner failed to communicate and take responsibility. This was more than a minor inconvenience. Guests could easily be left with nowhere to go. Book at your own risk.

The place itself is stunning, with flowers everywhere, a river beside a huge stone bridge, and clean, cozy rooms that feel like home. But what made it special was Ed and the family running it. They were incredibly kind and welcoming, and went out of their way to make sure we had what we needed. The food was amazing too. Their home-cooked dinners were full of flavor and clearly made with love, and breakfast was just as good. We had such a great stay and would absolutely come back. If you’re visiting Salento, this is the place to be!!!

The family running the place are so nice, and both breakfast and dinner were delicious. We had hot showers, and they easily arranged transportation for us. Gracias para todo! It’s just outside town, peaceful and incredibly beautiful, with a very relaxed atmosphere. Coming here was the best decision for our Salento trip.

My cabana was comfortable, with a private bathroom and a porch table where I could sit and take in the view. The river sounds made the whole place feel so soothing, and I was sad to leave. At night there were fireflies, and the views were amazing. This peaceful flower-filled oasis feels like a botanical garden. Ed and his family are some of the kindest people you’ll meet and do everything they can to make your stay wonderful. Breakfast is included and delicious, and dinners are available too. There’s also a guest kitchen and purified water.
