Hosteria Mar y Sol

The hotel is lovely, with clean, good-sized rooms and great service. The staff were amazing and very helpful with general information about the island. It's in the southern part of the island, but getting around wasn't a problem. They did their best to meet our requests or arrange a taxi. I had a great experience and would definitely come back.

The staff were wonderful, and I felt safe there. I enjoyed the pool and the flowers around the grounds. Meals were fresh, delicious, and good quality, and they arranged the fruit in playful animal shapes. The accommodations were clean. I also had my laundry done before flying home for a fraction of what it would have cost me to do it elsewhere. It came back fresh, folded, and ready to pack.

We spent five days at Hosteria Mar y Sol, just off the main road, and really enjoyed the quiet. Down on the south side of the island, it feels peaceful and close to nature, away from the noisy centro. Don Luis and his family made us feel like part of the family, and even prepared food when we arrived late. Staff were happy to help arrange tours, taxis, and motos. Playa Chacuitos, one of the island's most beautiful and relaxed beaches, is a 5-10 minute walk away.

The price was good, but this place was very average. It's far from beaches and shops, and the food was poor, with a tiny breakfast. I'd skip their island tour, since you can find a much better one for less. The pool has no fence or handrail, so it isn't really suitable for young kids or older people.
