Hotel Blue Cove by On vacation

We’ve had the most upsetting, disappointing, horrible experience of our lives. The hotel is old and dirty, and the first room was a disaster. There was a big damp patch on the ceiling, and the bathroom walls were dirty with dried blood on them. The bed was a mess, and the sheets were old and stained. We understand that a cheap trip may mean an ordinary experience, but this was unacceptable.

The location adds a long ride to outings: beaches and the center are about 30 minutes away by taxi, costing 45,000 COP each way. The food was passable but nothing special, and the bar drinks came in ridiculously small cups. The pool was so dirty you couldn’t see your feet in it. A few staff members were friendly, but most made us feel like we were a bother just for being there. My wife and I checked in and things went downhill fast. Our room was dirty and humid, with dry blood on the bedsheets and a pillow literally rotting with mold. We asked to move and were shown another room that was just as filthy, without AC. We managed one night before giving up and renting an Airbnb elsewhere to salvage our trip. I usually give places the benefit of the doubt, but this hotel proved me wrong at every turn. If you’re considering overlooking the bad reviews, take this as a sign to believe them. The experience was bad enough that I felt compelled to write this. Save yourself the hassle and avoid this place at all costs.

The hotel park looked nice, the staff were friendly, and we had a good dinner above the main entrance. The location was good, though it’s far from the center if you want to shop. The rooms were horrible, semi-clean, and hadn’t been fixed up in a long time, so they were only okay for sleeping. Breakfast was poor quality. We stayed one night and then looked for another hotel.

The rooms are badly neglected, and while we were there a guest was hit when a headboard fell on him. The place is falling apart, with no sign they’re maintaining it. It took two days to get fresh towels, the remotes didn’t work, and changing the temperature meant asking for a technician. The staff seemed to care and tried to help, but they didn’t know how. Terrible place, don’t stay here.
