The noise was a bit too much for us, though we had a pleasant stay. We spent two nights here after another local hotel could only fit us for two nights. The main concern was that Trip Monkey Del Rio is above shops, including two busy restaurants, and there was a lot of noise. You could also hear the boiler when showers were being used in other flats. The rooms are basic but do the job for a short stay. Ours had a fan, which was fine since it wasn’t hot when we visited, though it seemed to have only a high setting. We didn’t use many hotel facilities because we went on day trips. The staff were helpful, check-in was smooth, and the location is convenient. The online check-in felt a little tedious. You can walk or catch a bus to local streets and connections out of town. I’d recommend the Carnes next to the builders. Try a Tiki burger.

The staff were kind throughout, from the administration team to the lobby, restaurant, and spa. The pool is beautiful, though the gray wall behind it makes that part of the hotel feel a little dull. A mural tied to the name El Mico could brighten it up. There were a few practical issues. The bathroom is cramped, and its door couldn’t open properly because it hit the shower door. There’s no air conditioning in the rooms, just a floor fan. The hotel also has no elevator, so getting to the restaurant, wet area, or spa meant using the stairs. Restaurant orders took a long time and sometimes came mixed up with other dishes. I hope the hotel considers these comments. It has a lot of potential.

Trip Monkey Rio was a great base for San Gil’s nature and extreme sports, with excellent receptionists, spotless rooms, and a perfect location near good places to eat. The restaurant Alaia is 20/10, definitely worth trying. Thank goodness for Trip Monkey Rio!

We had a great family stay at the Trip monkey del rio. The team were all friendly, especially joss at reception. Our rooms were very clean and comfortable, and the pool area was lovely and relaxing.
