Villa Camargo

The venue itself is beautiful, but after the way we were treated, I wouldn’t hire them again or recommend them. We held a quinceañera at Las Cabañas in Villacamargo, and one of the owners was rude and completely out of line. He showed up drunk as the event was starting and demanded the remaining payment aggressively. We explained there was a technical problem with the bank account and that we were trying to sort it out, but he threatened to shut off the music and cancel the party unless he got paid within 10 minutes. Someone fortunately lent us the money, so we paid, though the damage had already been done. He was contemptuous toward the organizers and disrespectful in front of the guests. An important celebration shouldn’t be handled that way. I’m sharing this to warn others.

The hosts were lovely and suggested some affordable places to eat. They also arranged rafting for us. The place is beautiful, with very good service, and close to San Gil, Villa Nueva, and Barichara. Excellent.

The rooms weren’t clean or tidy, even though we’d booked well ahead and paid. The facilities also didn’t look like the website images, and the booking terms changed along the way. That all showed poor service quality. The owner’s treatment was terrible too, and it was clear customers weren’t her business’s priority.

The place is spacious and elegant, and I liked the good service. The host was very attentive and really tried to make things nice for tourists. I recommend it.
