Karakalí Boutique Hotel

A beautiful spot to spend a few days in the City of God. The location and service are both great, and for me it's the best hotel in Mompos!

We paid 580k for a family room, and at that price I think there are better options in Mompox, even though the hotel itself is stylish and attractive. The street-facing room was the biggest problem. There was no glass in the window, just wooden shutters, and at 4:15am street cleaners used a leaf blower right outside for over 30 minutes. It sounded like a chainsaw chopping down a tree, and earplugs didn't help. The staff knew this happened every morning and admitted it, which made me furious. Avoid rooms facing the street and get confirmation that your room is elsewhere. The front gate is secured with a large padlock. I understand the safety reason, but it could be a serious problem in a fire since guests have to rely on staff to open it. There was also a charge for the supposed welcome drink. After I arrived, I was offered juice or beer and chose beer, but got a ridiculously tiny glass, maybe 100 ml or a third of a can, literally one sip. At checkout they put 7.000 on the bill. I usually keep my cool, but I refused to pay.

I loved the pool most of all. The design works really well for groups, and the location is great too. I also loved the sunrise boat tour. It's a lovely boutique hotel, with a great bed, good air conditioning, and plenty of room. One thing to know: the Google address is wrong. Go to the road by the river and ask there. It's near a church/plaza de san francisco, along the river.

The view over the river and the places to explore nearby were lovely, and the hotel itself felt cozy and clean. Staff were really friendly and the service was excellent. It can get noisy at night if you're in a room by the main entrance and trying to sleep. It only goes on until midnight, though, so that's part of the atmosphere and charm of our beautiful country. Might as well join the fun! 💗 Highly recommended.
