Hotel Boutique Casa del Viento

We had the whole hotel to ourselves, which was really cool. They gave us the keys and left us to it. The location was amazing, right among restaurants, clubs, and bars. Seven of us stayed three nights, with a room each. The water stopped working for a day and a half. When it came back, it was brown for hours. We kept calling, and they came quickly, but repeatedly said it would be working in an hour or so when it wasn't. The electricity also kept going on and off for a whole day. And if you look at people's pool photos, you'll see it isn't filled all the way. They told us there's a hole, so the water has to stay at that level.

The hotel looks very nice and sits right in the center. There's a small pool by the entrance, a welcome spot to cool off in Santa Marta's heat. The rooftop terrace is lovely in the evening, though too hot to use much during the day. Breakfast was another highlight. It's served at a nearby bar that's part of the same property, not as a buffet but at the table with a choice of combinations. Everything is vegetarian or vegan, but I never missed meat. Portions are generous, and the food is excellent in both presentation and quality. In the room they provide water, natural juice, Patacon chips, tea, and coffee, all free and easy to use. The receptionist speaks pretty good English. Rooms are adequate, but ground-floor ones are very dark because their windows face the internal courtyard. If you open the curtains, people can see into your room. Cleanliness was average. I wouldn't give five stars because opening the windows is almost impossible, the air conditioning is okay but not great, the sheets are a bit old, and the shower water pressure is too weak.
