I left five days before the end of my original seven-day booking because the problems at Hotel Perla Suite were never fixed. The hot water wasn't working, and changing rooms after I reported it on Saturday didn't solve that. The WiFi kept cutting in and out too. I was working remotely, so both reliable internet and steady hot water mattered to me as basic needs. The unit showed visible wear and damage, street noise was constant, and the area felt unsafe at night, making me uncomfortable about going out after dark. Management handled my concerns dismissively and unprofessionally. When I first raised them, the manager was sitting barefoot in the lobby, and the response didn't feel serious or accountable. Later, I was told there was “no record” of my WiFi or hot water complaints, even though I'd been moved to another room because of them. When I checked out early, I asked for a receipt and an explanation of the charges. Maria at the front desk initially said she'd help, but I received no paperwork. I went back in person to settle the bill and was again refused proper billing documentation. I also got no refund for the unused nights. There was a huge lack of professionalism. There are better options in Santa Marta. Do not stay here.

We felt very safe and slept comfortably because we couldn't hear city noise from our room. The staff were extremely friendly and accommodating, and the price felt comfortable for a high-end experience. It's also well placed for walking to the beach and local markets, about 10-12 minutes away. We'd stay here again.

The views were a dream, and the hospitality at Perla Suite was unlike anywhere else. We also had great food options at the restaurant. Beaches and local Colombian restaurants are within walking distance. I had a beautiful stay and plan to return when I'm back in this lovely city. 10/10, recommended.

The room's AC gets nice and cold, and the hotel is close to the public market. It's also a good base for catching the bus to Minca. The rest made for an annoying stay: WiFi never worked, the neighborhood isn't great, check-in took 15 minutes, and there's no AC in the lobby. The electricity was cut on the morning I checked out. That may not have been the hotel's fault, but it all added up.

This place is still very new as of this review, and there's some fine-tuning left to do, but it has the potential to be amazing. The prices are great, it's not far from the city center, and the rooftop hot tubs create a lovely atmosphere. The rooms and showers look beautiful, the staff are very helpful when problems come up, and the restaurant is amazing too.
