Hotel Nueva Granada

The location was the reason we managed to stay the other two nights: the old town is only two streets away. We spent three nights here in October 25. When we first entered our room, there were three big cockroaches. The receptionist tried to hide one while getting rid of it, but the other two were still there. We started putting a towel under the door to keep more out. After we mentioned it the next morning, there were no more roaches in our room, and another towel had been put by the door. The room was small, very basic and outdated, though it did have excellent modern A/C. The pool was refreshing, and in the humid weather the cold-only showers were actually welcome.

Spent a week here and really enjoyed it. It's a small Colombian hotel, but they get the little things right. The rooms are a bit small, though there's enough room for clothes. There's a cold fridge, good AC and a nice TV. Breakfast is served every morning in a pleasant courtyard, and they vary it a bit. Everything is close by.

I loved the peaceful patio, with all its plants and a lovely cat, and there’s a small pool for a soak. Breakfast was delicious, too. The staff were extremely kind and helpful. My room had AC and a fan, a very comfortable bed and an average bathroom. It's a quiet hotel, just one street away from the restaurants and cafes. Would definitely recommend!

I picked this place partly because it's just down the street from Mercado Publico, which made it easy to get back and forth from Tayrona and Minca without getting turned around. The location worked out really well: not right in the middle of everything, but everything I wanted was a short walk away. I had a small travel emergency when my scheduled ride was cancelled, and the hosts helped me figure out a plan B and get going again in minutes. They really didn't have to do all that, and I'm grateful. They're warm and patient people, so my lack of fluency in Spanish, the world's second most spoken language, wasn't a barrier. I also loved the hotel's setup. It isn't exactly a museum or library, but there are books and objects around that get your imagination going. At breakfast I found things in books that I had to go see for myself. I'm grateful for my stay at Hotel Nueva Granada.
