Hotel Plazuela de San Agustín

We first stayed here years ago with our six-month-old baby, and the staff were fantastic with our son. They were all so helpful, and nothing was too much trouble. Our family stayed too and loved the hotel, especially the Colombian-style breakfast. We’ve been back since, and it’s even better now with the on-site restaurant. Highly recommended.

The courtyard is gorgeous, and that’s where we had a delicious breakfast, especially the Changua and freshly squeezed orange juice. There’s a lovely living room with a piano, and interesting books there as well as upstairs in the library. The hotel is quiet and elegant, just off the plaza, with beautiful views from the bedroom window and balcony. Bring mosquito repellent if you want to eat in the courtyard.

The location is perfect, close to the city center and the plaza, so it was easy to explore and get back even late. Every corner is stunning and has its own story, and the hotel is super Instagrammable. The owner laura and her staff are incredible. They told me stories about the hotel and town and suggested places to visit. I left my jewelry, cash, and phone out in the room, and nothing went missing. They even organized my things. I felt safe and at home, though I’m not saying anyone should do that. The staff were incredible, and I always stay here when I’m in Colombia. I saw a couple of bad comments, but I couldn’t disagree more. Recommend 10/10. It’s five stars for me!

The setting is beautiful, and I’d recommend stopping in for a nice coffee there. The breakfast, though, was a total rip-off. They charged $15 for something I’d say was worth about $2. With all the amazing produce here, they could put together a simple breakfast for very little, still charge $15, and make a nice profit. I should’ve known better than to pay it.
