The staff were always there to greet us at reception and were super helpful and attentive. When we asked them to arrange a tuk-tuk to the Tatacoa desert, the driver was waiting promptly the next morning. The service was efficient and simply amazing, an above-average standard that other hotels could learn from. The place feels like a little hidden oasis, though it’s basic by the standards of the town and region, in a good way. There’s a pool, a bar, and an onsite restaurant, which is handy if you arrive late and don’t want to go out. It’s a 5-6 minute walk to the town center, where there isn’t much besides the meeting spot by the church for colectivo / coomotor bus. Our room was clean, with nice beds. The bathroom and sink were small but suited the facility. Breakfast was simple but tasty and filling. Staff asked us the night before what we wanted, then the kitchen brought it out when we sat down the next morning. ⚠️ Not every tuk-tuk driver worked out for us. If you need rides between different sites, give the staff feedback about any bad driver so they won’t use that service again. PS: Looks like they’re building more rooms soon!

By European expectations, the hotel falls well short. For rural Colombia, it’s okay. The rooms are small and not clean, and there are no windows, just metal like the door. The restaurant is in the central room, so you can hear EVERY word people say, and there’s usually music. The food is basic Colombian fare, bad by European standards.

After a long day of travel, we went to bed early, then got woken at midnight by a party of 20 singing and clapping happy birthday. The noise went on until 2am. The receptionist did nothing to quiet them down, and in the morning our agency was told the “neighbours” were responsible. The bad faith, Spartan rooms that were poorly serviced, hair in the shower, and an empty bottle under the bed, plus a lousy breakfast, made us pack up and leave.

The pool was lovely, and having air conditioning was much appreciated. It’s a nice family-run hotel, with great food and generous portions. The staff were really helpful when it came to booking tours.

The staff were a huge help, arranging an English-language desert tour and transport to the airport. Breakfast was nice too. Our room was simple, but clean and comfortable, and we had a great stay.
