Hotel La Guaria Inn & Suites

The biggest drawback was the street noise in the early morning. We stayed one night after landing at SJO, and that worked well for us, though I wouldn’t choose this as a longer vacation stay. With advance coordination, the airport pickup went smoothly and made arrival much easier. The hotel is basic but functional, and breakfast was simple but fine for a short visit. Convenient for an overnight near the airport.

We spent some time on the balcony enjoying the mountain, church and street views. The room was clean, the location was great, and breakfast was available. We checked in at midnight, and the manager Jose was there waiting for us. He was friendly and kind, and also sent someone to pick us up at the airport. Excellent service, and we loved our stay.

The staff were nice, and there’s a shuttle to the airport at the top of each hour. Breakfast, though, was minimal and lacking. One room’s AC also didn’t work, so it was very hot. We booked three separate nights as cheap accommodation near the airport, but sleeping here was impossible. It’s very close to the main road, the walls are extremely thin, and you can hear all the cars and morning buses. For our third night, I asked to move to a room away from the road. The customer support agent on the phone said it was possible and recorded it on my account as a special request, but the front desk later said no such change could be made.

The room was clean and comfortable, and surprisingly quiet even though we were on a street corner. We stayed a couple of nights. Breakfast was good, the staff were friendly, and there was a lovely little pool area. I’d definitely recommend it.
