We had a great time riding horses through the rainforest. At breakfast, the people were lovely and the food was excellent, with fair prices. We could hear Volcan Arenal erupt, and when the sky was clear, we could see it from our bedroom. One morning, tucans came by while we had coffee on the veranda.

The trails make it easy to spend time in the rainforest, and the building and surroundings are beautiful. It’s a lovely spot to unwind and watch the birds. John was a great host.

Watching the beautiful birds flying over the lake at sunrise, singing in the morning light, with the church bells and avamaria, felt like paradise on earth.

Cathy and John made us feel completely at home, and their recommendations were excellent. Breakfast was superb, too. We watched birds come to eat the fruit set outside the window, all in a stunning setting. The spiral stairs were rough when we had to carry our luggage up, but the personal, warm service made a big difference.
