There are acres of property to explore and look for wildlife. It’s such a beautiful, peaceful place, and the photos don’t do it justice. It may have been our favorite place to stay in all of Costa Rica.

The host greeted us warmly and explained a few things about the area. In the morning there are lots of birds, and around 5 am you can hear howler monkeys. The place is well equipped with board games and kitchen items, and the bed was very comfortable. It’s in a perfect spot, about 20 minutes from Tenorio Volcano National Park.

The standalone one-bedroom houses and the beautiful surroundings make this a spectacular place to stay. Hospitality was wonderful and the food excellent. Highly recommend it if you enjoy nature and peace. If you can, book through their website so more of the revenue goes to them.

The garden is beautiful, and there are huge windows for watching birds, even from the shower. The terrace is nice, the style is modern, and everything was clean and super comfortable. It’s really well equipped, and the food was great. We only had breakfast, but it was enough for us for dinner and breakfast :-D

Eliette & Mark were excellent hosts and happy to share insights and recommendations about Costa Rica and its natural world. The room service breakfast of local fruit and breads was delicious. I found the accommodation cozy and comfortable, and loved opening the windows in the morning to hear rain mixed with toucan and monkey calls. In a private cabin in the forest, with soft rain on the roof and exotic birds and howler monkeys around, it’s hard to imagine a more relaxing, inspiring place. For a taste of Costa Rican culture and rainforest nature, Aves de Tierras Altas is a lovely place to start.
