Calala Lodge

That location is just paradise. We were staying nearby for five days and came to Calala for three meals. The front-of-house team were warm and welcoming, and Christian makes a great cocktail. For a snack, try the Argentinian Empanadas, and their fish with maracuya sauce was a good main.

Those chicken tacos were the best meal I've had on this trip so far. The pineapple salsa on top tasted incredibly fresh 🤩. We spotted the place while driving up to Santa Teresa and stopped on a whim for lunch. 10/10, recommend!!

After a great hike at the Cabo Blanco Absolute nature preserve nearby, we dropped in for drinks and a few small plates. We weren't staying at the hotel, but the food was amazing, and the bar and restaurant have a beautiful setting. The pool looked clean and nice, too. The staff/owner(?) was very friendly. Best tropical smoothie we've had during our two weeks in Costa Rica, plus they had a nice local IPA. I'd consider staying here with my family next time, or coming without the kids.

We spent an unforgettable Sunday afternoon at Calala Lounge, with the ocean only ten meters away and the soft waves setting the pace. Pura Vida. Christian made perfect Passionfruit Gin and Tonics, and his friendly smile, stories, and warm welcome made the afternoon extra memorable. If you're near Montezuma, the trip is worth it for the views, relaxed feel, and genuine Costa Rican hospitality. They have Monday night dinner and movie nights, too.
