Brigitte´s Ranch

The loud “jet turbine” fans were the main thing we struggled with during our four days. They blew hot air around at what sounded like 70-80 decibels, drowning out the morning wildlife sounds, including the howler monkeys. We’d hoped for an ocean breeze, but there wasn’t enough airflow through the house, especially in the main room. The air and temperature also felt quite different between the two rooms. Quieter fans with better circulation would have helped. The place itself is in an amazing spot, with rare wildlife around the yard. It’s close to the beach and restaurants but away from the crowds, and the staff and pets were friendly.

Great value for the money, with two hammocks and the beach just a few meters away. We finally got to see sloths, right on the property, along with red, orange, and black frogs with green on them. What a lovely place to spend a few days.

The scenery was absolutely beautiful, but the ride was awful for me and it spoiled the experience. My horse wouldn’t listen, and the guide gave me a switch and wanted me to hit her hard if she wouldn’t move faster. She already had scars, and I wasn’t going to do that. I ended up far behind my kids and couldn’t enjoy riding with them. The guide also stopped the group at a little soda shop without telling us or asking if anyone wanted a drink. He went inside, came back with a cold drink just for himself, and we carried on. That was so rude.

Raul took us on a two-hour horseback ride along the beach. The scenery was amazing and the horses were well trained. My boys, who are 7 and 9, loved it.
