Hotel Cana Brava Inn

My family stayed here while getting ready for a wedding in Canas. There was also a reception the night before the wedding.

I felt safe during my four nights here. The rooms were clean, though not luxurious. It’s a great local hotel, with good restaurants and great food and service.

My reservation for two rooms was cancelled without anyone notifying me. I showed the front desk my booking, and the response was basically, “Oh well, we don’t have you down for two rooms.”

It’s right across from the main road to Liberia, so getting in is easy, and it’s a useful base for Liberia, the beaches, Monteverde, Arenal, and more, all within 75 km. In Cañas, this is the only decent, nice place to stay. It’s three blocks from downtown and near the supermarket, post office, and other places. There’s secure parking inside the property, a pool, and a really good restaurant. Ask for local food like frijoles and tortillas. The hotel is eco-friendly and has one of Costa Rica’s largest solar energy systems for its own power. That’s why the restaurant’s A/C is always on, unlike other nearby places. One night here means one fish rescued from the oceans.
