Directly across the street from the ocean, with hammocks on the balcony and laid back reggae vibes. The rooms are great, the kitchen is well equipped, and it’s really affordable. The owners are super friendly. Best place to stay in Puerto Viejo, I wouldn’t choose anywhere else.

We only tried the restaurant and grounds, not the hostel, and the food was DELICIOUS. We both ordered chicken casado, my husband with Caribbean sauce and me with coconut sauce. The coconut sauce was out of this world, and he agreed I’d picked the better one. Even the vegetables were so good that he, who doesn’t usually comment on them, brought them up several times. The warm, gooey, half baked brownie was the best we’ve ever had. Luis, our local server, was friendly and efficient, and we loved the vibe too.

Loved the surf session, it was wonderful. Thanks @Rike for such a good lesson. We loved the place and can absolutely recommend it.

You just cross the road and you’re on the beach, and there’s direct access to surfboard rentals. A fruit seller is right across the street too, with a bus stop nearby. Puerto Viejo is a five minute bus or taxi ride away, for less than €2 each way, and good restaurants are an easy walk. The shared outdoor kitchen was handy, and the value for money was excellent. The accommodation was clean and very well located, and the owners were incredibly kind. Fantastic stay!
