We stayed in one of the villas, not the domes, so I can’t speak to what those are like, though I imagine they’re great too. The man working there was really nice, whether he was the owner or not. The amenities were great, the jungle view was cool, the pools were spotless, and the rooms immaculate. Wifi and air conditioner both worked great. We only stayed one night and wished we’d stayed longer. It was amazing, and I’d definitely come back and recommend it.

We asked to change rooms promptly because the setup didn’t meet our expectations. Though advertised as villas, the rooms had open-air living areas without adequate enclosure. We had booked a deluxe villa with a jacuzzi, but it faced the jungle with no protective barriers, so forest creatures could easily get into the supposed kitchen and living room, where the jacuzzi was. A kitchen was listed, but there wasn’t one. The manager said electric cooking tools were provided as a substitute, which wasn’t enough. Several areas looked unclean once we turned on the lights, and the rooms had a persistent musty smell, likely from the humidity. The rooms and appliances were dirty, as were the dishes. There was hair left in the bathroom from a previous guest, and the fridge was dripping. The receptionist was accommodating at first, but became apprehensive and less friendly when we explained our dissatisfaction. Eventually, we were told to leave rather than spend an uncomfortable night. At first, a refund was offered minus taxes, then it was changed to include a cleaning fee, despite our quiet, non-disruptive stay. Based on our experience, I strongly advise against staying here. We attached visual evidence of the problems.

The people here were the best part of my stay. Lili, Alvaró, Maria and little Maggie made me feel like family and looked after me so well. I was thoroughly spoiled, and they even got in touch after I left to ask how my flight home went. I miss them and can’t thank them enough for everything. My villa had two simply but nicely decorated, air-conditioned rooms, each with a smart TV. Between them was a roomy bathroom that stayed immaculate throughout my visit. The kitchenette was out on the balcony and had everything I needed, from a microwave, oven and coffee maker to a rice cooker. There’s also a large supermarket at the bottom of the hill. The walk back is steep, but it doesn’t take long to get home. Puerto Viejo is close by, and you can walk, cycle or catch a tuk-tuk from the main road. The whole property was kept very clean, and it felt peaceful and private. The pools were refreshing too. From my room I looked straight out onto the forest, waking to howler monkeys and birds and falling asleep to insects. None of them came visiting, though! The balcony jacuzzi was just perfect, especially soaking in it while looking out at the jungle. It’s a very welcoming country, and this wonderful group of people made the hospitality here even more special.
