Le Cameleon Puerto Viejo

Having the beach just steps away and access to three pools, each with its own feel, gave our family the best of both worlds. Our room was spacious, comfortable, and thoughtfully designed, and the food had plenty of delicious options for us. The spa treatments were incredible and made it easy to relax. From the moment we arrived, everyone on the Le Cameleon team was friendly, attentive, and truly cared about making our vacation special. Every detail exceeded our expectations. I booked a few nights at Le Cameleon Boutique Hotel with a bunch of friends, and we all loved it. The gardens and greenery around the accommodations are lovely. The rooms are simple, with comfortable beds and all the amenities, and I especially liked having a balcony. There are three pools, plus the beachfront Gigi’s club, with a restaurant and bar. From the lawn and its lounge spots in sun or shade, you can feel the sea breeze and see the waves. I also enjoyed a massage in the beautiful spa. Breakfast was included, the food at the restaurant was delicious with plenty of variety, and there’s a great gym. The staff made us feel welcome and took care of everything. Puerto Viejo has lots of activities, and there’s a nice market and different places to eat a short walk away. It was relaxing, and we all want to come back!

The staff were very friendly, and they let us stay until 1 pm so we could enjoy the beach before heading out. Breakfast was included and nice, too. The room itself was nice, but the bathroom showed wear. Several little jobs hadn't been done properly, which made it seem dated and poorly maintained. Hot water took several minutes to arrive and was almost impossible to regulate, and the flexible shower head didn't work. The AC wasn't working either. The room stayed fresh with the AC and fan, but never got cold. The beach was nice, but it didn't look safe for swimming. There was a red flag the whole time, so we had to go to another beach to swim safely. I expected service at the beach, but although there were sunbeds, no one was around. We had to go to the bar to get a drink. It's a nice hotel in Puerto Viejo, but those things were disappointing.

The location was perfect, and we loved our room by the beach. Gigi's restaurant had a great view and was excellent. David quickly booked kayaking, night jungle hike, and scuba trips for us, and the staff at Le Chameleon were incredible. The only downside was the four-and-a-half-hour trip from the airport. We rented a car, but be prepared for slow traffic through the rainforest and on the beachside roads. Once you're there, you'll love it.
