MILO G.
We stopped in to wait out the rain with a beer and a snack. They made us a fresh fruit platter, and the meals looked like big portions. There’s a nice view of Chiquita beach too. We’d come back to try the food.

The five stars are for the empathy and kindness we received at Paradise Beach Bar during a traumatic experience. On Saturday, October 13, 2018, at around 10:30 a.m., two armed, masked men robbed us while we were walking on the nearby beach, about 200-300 meters from the property. We went to Paradise Beach Bar for help. They couldn’t call the police because of poor cell reception, so someone who seemed to be associated with the bar drove us to the tourist police station and explained where the robbery happened. The police caught one of the robbers with some of my belongings in his pocket and quickly recovered 80% of what was taken. I’m still missing my camera, which had 1,000 photos from my vacation in Costa Rica, and a beloved necklace. If anyone finds my belongings and can return them, I’ll pay a reward. The attached photo shows me wearing the necklace. My sincere thanks to the police and the Paradise Beach Bar staff who helped us. I hope the neighboring owners can help make it harder for thieves to terrorize tourists. Costa Rica is full of wonderful people, and the people who robbed us aren’t typical.
The drinks were phenomenal, and the live music was amazing too. A real gem in playa Chiquita.
The staff were extremely friendly, and the food was excellent. We tried the fried fish and hamburger, and you could tell a lot of care had gone into both dishes. We came back because it was so good. That time, a DJ was playing some really sick beats, giving the place a vibe that set it apart from other local bars and was perfect for a drink and a dance. It’s a great bar right near the beach. Couldn’t recommend it enough!
We’d been strolling on the beach and, as we passed the bar on our way back, I politely asked if I could use the bathroom. I thought it might be a nice place to return to for a sundowner, but the lady said no, it was only for customers. Nobody was there, it was afternoon, and I’m over sixty. I never expected that answer. Up to then, we’d found Costa Ricans friendly, but this didn’t feel like Pura Vida. We definitely won’t be having a sundowner there. :(
