Cafe de Playa Boutique Hotel on the Beach

The sunset over the water is lovely, and that view is worth something, which is why I gave three stars. But after coming here for years, I've watched the place steadily decline. Tonight, one person in our party was served fish despite having a severe seafood allergy. Another person's meal was forgotten; we asked about it three times and kept being told it would arrive in a minute, but everyone had finished eating and it still never came. Nobody apologized for either problem. There are much better places nearby, so I'd only come here if this were the only beachfront restaurant with a table.

It's a nice place, but there were no other customers while we were there. They don't list the drink prices. Four sangrias at $20 USD each and one ceviche came to $145 USD. Maybe they'd get more customers if the prices were more competitive.

We chose this spot for lunch because it was convenient to the beach, and the food tasted great. The service was another story. I ordered a salad and my husband a hamburger, but two salads arrived. When we pointed that out, the waiter wouldn't acknowledge his mistake. We were about to leave before he finally called another worker over, and they got the hamburger ordered and took away the extra salad. At the end, they charged us for bottled water even though we'd asked for natural water. They seemed to think we should have repeated the request when the bottle arrived. It felt like a scam. Don't go if you don't want to pay for things you didn't order.

We came across the place while walking along the beach and stopped for lunch. The prawns risotto was excellent, and Freddy made the meal especially pleasant. He was friendly, professional, and took care of everything we needed. We'd go back before leaving Coco Beach.
