Villas Alturas

We booked at the last minute and the staff were welcoming and very accommodating. Our stay was short, but we had a great meal at the bar, especially the guacamole flower, such a treat. The villa was clean and well appointed, with exceptional views. The only disappointment was missing the sanctuary because it was closed on Monday.

We landed at Villas Alturas at 1:30 am, a few hours after leaving our disgusting place at Pacific Edge. The overnight security person really saved us. He called the owner, who I spoke to briefly by phone, then gave us a room for the night and let us check in officially after we'd had a good night's sleep. It's beautiful, with a really nice restaurant, pool, and amazing ocean view. We'll definitely go back.

The drive up that awful 4x4 road felt wasted when we found a completely different menu from the one online. Why leave an incorrect menu up instead of updating it? The view was beautiful, but the service was unfriendly and inefficient. The restaurant was closed from 9:30 to 12 p.m.

I only went there as the meeting point for an animal sanctuary, I didn't stay overnight. The views were lovely, though the place seemed a bit neglected. The pool is small and the property could use a good refresh. What really put me off was the pond: the fish looked like they were struggling to breathe, and quite a lot were dead. I wouldn't stay there.
