Hotel Jinetes de Osa

Hotel Jinetes de Osa was an affordable and comfortable base in Drake Bay, a remote, extraordinarily beautiful place for people who like to explore. We were close to the village square, right by the main hiking trail, with trees and beautiful tropical birds all around. The rooms were comfortable, and Claudio's restaurant on site serves a nice breakfast included with the lodging, as well as lunch and dinner. Greg made booking and organizing the trip easy before we arrived. Airport transport and check-in went smoothly, and the attentive, professional, friendly staff arranged our tours and activities and helped us get to know the area.

Our suite was great, and the on-site restaurant and bar were good. We stayed in suite A at the top of the hill, while our adult children had number 10 midway down. Both had nice views, though be ready for an uphill walk. The room could use a privacy screen facing suite 2, since our neighbors could look straight into the bedroom from their balcony and we had to keep the blind shut. The hotel is beyond the end of the beach on a hillside with nice vistas, but it’s a bit of a walk to restaurants off site.

The view was spectacular, and our room was spacious and clean with four beds. There were bars of soap but no shampoo, conditioner, or other amenities. The main thing we hadn't realized was that reaching the room meant climbing 270 steps. The restaurant is a separate business and was very good. We booked a tour through the hotel and were glad we did. We got to Corcovado before everyone else, and Rolando was an excellent guide. He was even telling the other, younger guides where to find the animals. Jinetes de Osa is a nice place run by nice people.

The rooms were lovely and clean, with beautiful views. The staff were organized and quick to help. I’d recommend staying here in Drake Bay.
