Golfito turned out to be a wonderful little town, not touristy at all. We only meant to stop for a night before moving on, but stayed three days and still didn’t want to leave. It’s a good place to recharge, with hiking and waterfalls as options. I’d definitely make time for it. The hostel has ocean views from several spots, and the funky building design creates lots of places to hang out together or find some space alone. The rooftop turf was a favorite, good for yoga and for drying clothes and swimsuits. Breakfast is included, and we’d sit for hours with coffee, fresh fruit and toast while watching dolphins. Catalina, the owner, was so kind and helpful, suggesting nearby activities for different budgets. The free bikes and inexpensive kayak rental were great, too. The rooms and common areas were clean, the owner and staff very friendly. If I came back, I’d ask for a room with an ocean view or window.

Golfito is beautiful, relaxing and not very touristy, with lots of nature around. The hostel sits right by the water and is really nice. Everything was clean, the kitchen was good, and so was breakfast. The staff were so friendly that we had a great stay. I can definitely recommend it to anyone.

My favorite hostel in all of Central and South America. It’s a beautiful place right on the water, with kayaks, bikes and the friendliest staff. They helped us arrange taxis and suggested places nearby, which led us to uncrowded hiking trails. It’s clean and comfortable, and you’ll want to stay forever.

After the long trip from Bocas town, spending a night here was a real relief. Valeria was welcoming, knowledgeable, and more than friendly and hospitable. The facilities are great, and you’re surrounded by nature. I met the neighbors’ cat and an iguana the size of my thigh in the garden. Breakfast and the balcony view were amazing. Do stay here.

The bay looks great from here, especially from the rooftop at sunset. There’s real character to the place, with clean rooms and plenty of cool, shady common areas. Valeria is a lovely host who shares useful information and makes delicious breakfasts. She speaks really good English, too.
