Cabañas Rio Escondido

The room was clean and had an amazing view, and we felt completely safe during our three-night family stay. It’s about ten minutes from downtown La Fortuna, close enough for convenience but far enough away from the traffic and noise. The real gem is the staff: Silvia, Nicole, and Ana made us feel welcome and treated us like family. I’d absolutely stay again and recommend it without hesitation.

Silvia at the front desk was the highlight for us, so kind, welcoming, and helpful. The cabin is also in a lovely spot beside the river, where you can wake up to the sounds of nature. Downtown La Fortuna, the volcano, and plenty of activities are only minutes away. Our room was clean and comfortable, though it could use some updating. The property has plenty of charm, but the general upkeep could be better.

We loved the outdoor space by the river, and our bedroom had a river view too. We kept the screened window cracked so we could hear the water. The grounds looked just like the pictures, and the quiet spot is about a five-minute drive from the main street, with El Salto Rope swing only a couple of minutes away. Definitely worth trying. The room was clean, friendly people, and it matched the photos. Special requests can take a while, so you have to be okay with the slower Pura vida pace. It didn't bother me, though my travel partner was less patient. That's my honest take on the service. There was a coffee maker but no coffee, and that was true at all four places we stayed, so bring your own. I also couldn't get the temperature to change with the remote. It stayed at 74F and the air blew right at my face, waking me up through the night. I could have switched it off, but my partner didn't want that, so it might've been different if I'd turned it on and off when needed.

The cabin was in a quiet, safe spot away from busy La Fortuna, with a pleasant little front patio and pretty landscaping. I'd recommend having a car here. Our family room slept four and had a good amount of space, plus a kitchen. The bathroom was small but did the job.
