Casa Luna Hotel & Spa

The little elephant made from towels in our room was such a sweet touch, and there were thoughtful details like that throughout. We especially liked the pool and its separate hot tub. The grounds were lovely, our room was spotless and really comfortable, and the food was amazing. Everyone on staff was friendly and went out of their way to help.

We spent four nights here at the end of October, and the forest trail behind the property was a favorite. It follows a creek, with frogs, birds, lizards, and even a sloth to spot. The spa was also a highlight, and reasonably priced, with the sounds of the forest and water all around. Our standard room was clean and pleasant, with a side view of the volcano. Breakfast had plenty to choose from, including fruit, omelets, and traditional Costa Rican food. Our family of three had a lovely stay.

The Wi-Fi was unreliable once we left the lobby and pool area, which was a drawback. The rest of the stay was great: there are lovely pools and jacuzzis, and the hotel restaurant serves a very good breakfast buffet. It’s a small, quaint place just outside La Fortuna, and I’d recommend it if that’s what you’re after.

The rooms and pool were really nice, and there was some fun wildlife around, including lots of different birds for anyone who likes birdwatching. The volcano view is great when clouds aren’t in the way. It’s a bit too far from La Fortuna to walk, but getting an Uber was easy.
