Fortuna Retreat

We rented a bungalow for our honeymoon and had a great time. The rooms were clean and felt private, and the service was friendly. It was far enough from town to be quiet, yet easy to walk or call ubers when we wanted to go in. The one drawback was that breakfast felt pretty basic compared with what we had at other resorts in the country. On the side, we’d recommend booking a North Fields Coffee tour down the road.

The common area has a fully equipped kitchen and some board games, which is a great setup. Getting into the parking area, rooms, and hotel entrance with codes was very easy. The team were welcoming, helpful, and always smiling. The rooms were comfortable and inviting, and the hotel was clean and cozy. I’ll definitely come back if I’m in La Fortuna again 🫶 The video was taken from a second-floor balcony room.

The volcano views from our balcony were amazing, and the new rooms felt clean and very spacious. The bathrooms are huge, with so many windows that showering feels like being in the jungle. Check carefully when booking through a third-party site like Priceline, though: the listings show every room with a private hot tub, but not all rooms have one. The beds are small, the pool area is tiny and a little lackluster, and there’s no kitchen or room service. For breakfast, you have to walk to a neighboring eco resort.

We enjoyed the breakfast and had a nice room with a great view. Fortuna retreat is a little outside the busy areas, but close enough to get there easily, and my husband and I really liked our stay.
