Hotel Las Colinas

Muy buen hotel, austero pero super limpio!!! Y gente amable !!! The food was delicious, the staff friendly, and there’s a convenience store and places to eat right next to the hotel. Just don’t expect an iron, mini fridge, safe, or hair dryer to be included.

We stayed three nights, and the staff were very friendly. I handed over a pile of laundry and got it back sorted the same day. There were good shared areas for meeting up with our group, but things quieted down later so people could sleep. The location was handy for the town center. Our first-floor room was okay, though the ground-floor bedrooms felt damp and had dehumidifiers. None of the rooms have windows, and air conditioning is available. I do wish hotels in CR would fix taps and sinks properly, though maybe that’s asking too much.

I booked through booking.com, where the reservation said I could pay onsite, but my credit card wouldn’t work with the hotel’s machine. It wouldn’t even let me enter my PIN. When I asked staff how to resolve it or redo the booking online, they weren’t helpful. I suggested cancelling and booking directly on the spot. They warned the room might be taken, but I had no other option. Once I cancelled, someone else got it, and the staff just shrugged as if nothing could be done. I had to leave and book elsewhere. As a woman traveling alone, I found the experience disappointing.

The market next door made it easy to pick up anything I needed. Front desk staff were very friendly and helped arrange tours, and I had a great time over my three-night stay. The service was great, and the AC, hot water, and location were all very good.
