Sol y Luna Apartments

We were a family of 9 and rented two apartments. Each one had all the appliances we needed, AC in every room, and bunk beds with very soft mattresses. The internet never failed, and the open-air parking garage felt very secure. Our stay was pleasant and comfortable. The manager and owner really made the place stand out. They were available, flexible, helpful, informative, and very nice. Whenever we needed something, they made it happen. The owner lives two blocks away and even came to help us at night. The apartments have everything needed for a comfortable stay, from a full kitchen and toiletries to an iron, cool AC, and comfy beds. There’s a market nearby and the center is close. Whenever we’re passing through La Fortuna, this is our first choice. Until next time!

We were two couples there for two nights, and the apartment worked well for us. The beds were really comfortable and the kitchen had good equipment. Around La Fortuna, you can visit the free hot springs or hike Cerro Chato Volcano. The hike is technically not allowed by the government, but it can be done and is a little difficult. To cross the Arenal Green Eco Lodge property, you have to pay $12 per person.

The beds were very comfortable, the AC was easy to adjust, and the place had everything we needed. It’s a pleasant short walk to the start of central La Fortuna, and the woman who handled cleaning and check-in was helpful. There was also a small ant issue in the kitchen, so I kept everything in the fridge to avoid attracting more. Check-in was confusing. Booking.com said cards were accepted, but they weren’t accepted at the property. You have to go to the owner’s location to pay by card, though you can pay the woman at the complex in cash, in dollars or colones. My original total was $216, then I was told a $32 commission would be added. Paying in colones brought it to 169,000, or $248. After the drive and with rain coming down, I just paid rather than argue. The internet was very unstable and at times absent, making even simple tasks difficult. I contacted Denia and she said it was a network issue, but other reviews make it seem like this is normal. There were no checkout instructions either. We were the only guests among the four apartments, so I tidied up, took photos and videos, and messaged the owner to say we’d left. I haven’t heard back. I probably wouldn’t stay again because of the overcharge and unreliable internet.
