We went looking for lobster, but the rough seas had made it hard for them to catch any. Instead we ordered a whole red snapper, probably about a pound and a half to 2 lb, grilled with Caribbean sauce on the side so we could check that it wasn’t too spicy. The sauce had a coconut milk base and was delicious, and the fish was outstanding. We also had rice with mixed beans made with coconut milk, not too sweet and very good, plus creamy, delicious fried green plantains called patacones. The tres leches made with local rum was one of the best I’ve tasted. I had tasty soursop juice made from fruit pulp, and my wife had Coke Zero, which was better than what we get back in the States. Hotel Park is about a 10-minute walk from the cruise port in Port Limon, Costa Rica. We’d heard it was one of the best restaurants near the port. The hotel is 150 years old and has had three owners: first German, then Italian, and now Chinese. Most of the employees working in the restaurant and other services are locals. I highly recommend eating here if you come to Port Limon, since there aren’t many other places I’d eat. Hope you enjoy!

The ocean view from the balcony was amazing, and my room was comfortable and cozy. The staff were really friendly and helpful, and the restaurant food was top-notch, five stars. I’ll stay here again when I return. ❤️🌊

The restaurant food was delicious, and the portions were generous. We especially liked the Caribbean shrimp and churrasco. Breakfast was a little disappointing, though, since they had the same three options every day. The hotel is very nice and cozy, right by the sea. Our deluxe room was spacious, with comfortable beds, a little balcony, and a lovely view of the sea and beach. The bathtub didn’t work very well because it wouldn’t hold water. We also had a plumbing issue in the first room, where the toilet wouldn’t flush. The staff moved us to another room, and everything was fine there.

I chose this place because it was probably the best option in the center of town. Check-in was quick, and the young woman was nice. For $75.00 a night, I’ve stayed in much better places. The reception and restaurant look all right, but the rooms are where you see the dated, three-star motel feel.

The staff at the hotel and restaurant gave great service, and we had the best gallo pinto in Costa Rica there. The woman who arranged our room upgrade was especially helpful, as was the restaurant worker who still got breakfast for us on our last day after breakfast time. We’d been busy packing and lost track of time. We stayed in Limón during our October 2023 trip to Costa Rica for the Caribbean carnival and a visit to San José. The service and the upgrade to a premium room with an ocean view would have earned five stars on their own. But the owners charged us extra for their bank fees on the wire transfer booking deposit, even though I’d already paid my own bank fees. The room rate was already expensive because of the carnival. This has never happened to me at other hotels in the countries and places I’ve visited. They could have sent a payment link, as other places do, instead of banking details that leave you unable to avoid transaction fees. Because of this payment issue alone, I’d give the service three stars.
