Montezuma Heights

We stayed in Bohu, and the other units looked just as cute. The pool was a favorite, with lovely ocean views and water at just the right temperature. Peter and Santiago were helpful whenever we had a question about the area, and the book at the rental had great suggestions for things to do. The air up on the cliff felt so refreshing that we ended up making all our dinners in the unit.

The view over the ocean is phenomenal, and the home fits beautifully into the surrounding nature. It's filled with lovely art and gorgeous furniture, and you can tell Peter & Rocio put a lot of heart into it. This is by far our favorite place to stay in Costa Rica, and we've come back to Montezuma Heights on every trip. We especially love the abundant wildlife throughout the property, along with all the flowers that draw hummingbirds and butterflies. The house, grounds, pool, and patio are kept impeccably. Santiago, the on-site caretaker, looks after everything and is very helpful if you need something. The location also makes it easy to reach Montezuma while still feeling secluded. Peter & Rocio are wonderful hosts. They always make us feel welcome, almost like family, and go out of their way to make sure our stay is just right. We'll return to Costa Rica soon, and Montezuma Heights will be our first choice again. Thank you for everything!

We stayed in Buho Cabin and will definitely return. I was a little worried that sleeping without A/C might be uncomfortable, but the airflow and ocean breeze kept the temperature pleasant and we slept really well. The cabins are well equipped, the grounds and pool are lovely, and the view was even more beautiful than we expected. We also love the Montezuma area.

Colibri was a quaint, rustic, romantic cottage, just as pictured, with a wonderful ocean view over all that lush greenery. The kitchen had the basic things we needed to cook, and both the balcony and outdoor shower had amazing views. The bedroom is up a ladder, with a mosquito net for the bed if you want it and a fan to keep you cool. It's a properly immersive rustic stay. If you're up early, the sunrise from the bedroom is hard to beat. We saw so much wildlife: a Quati, iguanas, hummingbirds, and snakes, with howler monkeys calling in the distance. One morning white-faced monkeys woke us by running and jumping across the roof. They were curious and interactive, and so adorable. The shared pool also looks out over the ocean, and we spent plenty of time there. Peter & Rocío sent helpful tips and a map before we arrived, then greeted us with a chat and a personal tour of the property. One tip: rent a 4 wheel drive or SUV if you want to take the dirt path shortcut. It saves about 15 minutes, though the ride is bumpy. This was a uniquely memorable getaway just outside Montezuma, and we can't wait to come back.
