Aves Hotel & Resort - Retreat Center

This resort ended up being a highlight of our trip, and I wish we’d left more time for it. It’s peaceful, has great amenities and a good restaurant on site, and the staff were caring and professional. Town is a short drive away or about a 30-minute walk. I’d happily return and recommend staying here.

The team is what makes Aves Hotel & Resort – Retreat Center special. You can hear how much they believe in the place, and there’s real care, inclusion, and community in the way it runs. It’s family-friendly, conscious of local needs, and regularly offers services and experiences that the wider community can access too. The property itself feels shaped around nature rather than imposed on it. There’s a large central tree, thriving wildlife, and grounds that are thoughtfully maintained. The restaurant has been exceptional every time I’ve eaten there, and every guest I’ve brought has agreed. The pool is stunning and clearly a gathering place, while the beautiful yoga shala feels made for reflection, healing, and change. Aves works wonderfully as a retreat or workshop venue. There are several ways to host retreats, learning programs, and wellness offerings, and they collaborate with practitioners from around the world to bring in high-quality experiences. The team is friendly, responsive, and supportive through the process. The resort keeps growing while staying grounded in its values. If you want a place to stay, host something, or experience Montezuma and The Nicoya Peninsula in a nourishing setting, this is a place to connect with.

Three weeks at Aves Resort, and it really became home. I was there every day, doing lots of yoga and staying active in the shalas and gym. Being in nature was a big part of it, from the little waterfall by the pool and the swing seat by the big tree to roasting marshmallows by the campfire in the evenings. I ate at the restaurant all the time, and everything was consistently delicious. The pastas and dessert menu were favorites, and the meals always felt nourishing and thoughtfully made. Staff were friendly, helpful, and attentive. It’s close to lots of things, including the beach and waterfall, so exploring the area was easy. Such a calming, grounding, memorable stay. I stayed here a few years back with a friend while we were working remotely. We spent a week, starting the day with breakfast and taking a pool dip whenever we needed a break. The staff were so friendly and made the stay memorable. I only just spotted the place while scrolling through my saved spots on Google Maps, and it brought back such fond memories. A real haven, highly recommend.
