Flor De Paraiso Bungalows

We spent 21 nights in Costa Rica, and Flor de Paraiso was a perfect place to relax. The pool was great for cooling off and hanging out, and it was incredibly well maintained. We also loved the well equipped kitchen and the sliding windows that made indoor and outdoor living feel connected. Montezuma Beach is about a 15-minute walk away, where we regularly saw spider and capuchin monkeys. The local bus stop is only a 50-foot walk, and we had no trouble getting around the peninsula without a car, with Montezuma about 5 minutes away and Cobano about 10. Gerardo and his family were welcoming and helpful whenever we had a question. One highlight was sharing a test meal with Gerardo and Iliana as they got ready to open the on-site restaurant. Future guests will be lucky to try their local chicken, plantain, and fresh tortilla meal, which was a 10/10, as well as Italian-style wood oven pizzas. We highly recommend staying here and would return in a heartbeat.

Our five weeks with Gerardo and Iliana in Casa el Arbul were wonderful, and we’d absolutely stay again. The pool was lovely for a dip in the heat of the day or before bed, and the bedroom air conditioning worked perfectly. The kitchen was big and well equipped, and Howler monkeys came by a few times. It’s a quiet oasis just up the hill from Montezuma, about a 1.5 km walk. The bus to and from Cobano stops nearby, so a car isn’t needed. We also had good luck hitchhiking to and from the place, and learned a lot about the area from the locals who picked us up. Highly recommended!

We loved the location, up the hill from Montezuma and away from the village dust and bustle. The grounds were beautiful, with lovely gardens.
