The hostess and the other people were very nice, and the price was affordable. The rooms were fine. There was no air conditioning, but a breeze came through, which helped in Costa Rica's heat. The location and service were good, and they helped me very well.

The place is a little outside town, so expect a bit of a walk. Rooms were clean and good, and the staff were helpful when I needed taxis. Laundry was quick and very well priced.

I really liked the communal kitchen, which was very well equipped, and the big table made a nice spot to talk with other guests. Staff were friendly, helpful, and spoke excellent English. The center of town is about a 10-minute walk away, and for a small donation there's a hike to a beautiful tree at Ficus Root Bridge Trailhead. I stayed solo in a dorm in March 2026 and was very satisfied overall. One drawback was that there were no in-room lockers for valuables, only lockers in the kitchen, which is open from 6:00 AM to 10:00 PM. If you're catching the 5:30 AM public bus to San Jose, remember to get your things before the kitchen closes. More toilets would also be useful. My section had two four-bed dorms and one double room sharing a single bathroom with a shower, toilet, and sink.
