The staff were friendly, and the garden looked lovely, but most of the outdoor seats were dirty and poorly kept, with dust and bird droppings. The only comfortable place to sit was near the hotel entrance. At night, the dog barked constantly and kept me from sleeping. My room smelled damp and musty. When I checked under the sink, I found heavy black mould, and the dark shiplap walls made it difficult to judge the room's condition. Given the smell and damp air, I suspect the mould was widespread.

We got stuck in a difficult situation, and the staff stepped in right away to help. They were incredibly helpful, with excellent service.

The host was friendly, but the stay was disappointing. There was so much traffic noise outside our window that we couldn't relax, and bright light came into the room at night, making it hard to sleep. I also couldn't get any hot water for a proper shower. The food was expensive and not particularly good. Our room smelled mouldy, and it seemed like fans were needed to get the air moving.

My room, number 1, was clean and comfortable, though it had no outside-facing window and was noisy because it was beside the laundry. Other guests mentioned great valley views and quiet rooms, so it seems experiences here vary quite a bit. The staff were friendly, and I enjoyed seeing the pets and the hummingbirds and other birds in the front gardens. Breakfast, though, was poor and costly. The area is hilly, so the walk into town and back is a workout even though it looks nearby.

The cabin suite at the top of the hill was roomy, and I especially liked the table and chair on the front porch. The bathroom was spacious and had soap and shampoo. I couldn't work out how to switch on the lights above the bed, and the window had no screen.
