The bungalow was such a comfortable way to enjoy being surrounded by nature, and this may be the best vacation spot I’ve visited. There’s a pool and an open-air kitchen guests can use whenever they want. Breakfast was phenomenal, especially the freshest fruit I’ve ever tasted. I absolutely loved staying here. Sophie, Karina and Diego will look after you!

The greenery is even more lush and abundant than the photos show, which gives the place a lovely tucked-away feeling. We were here with our kids and they loved the atmosphere. The small pool was just right for cooling off on hot days. It feels like living in the jungle, but with amenities. We fell asleep to crickets and woke to birds and howler monkeys moving around. Highly recommended!

Years later, this place came up when a friend and I were talking about the best places we’d stayed anywhere. It was my favorite place in Costa Rica after weeks of traveling there, and otherwise the most peaceful paradise I can imagine. The staff were amazing, the breakfast was excellent, and the grounds and landscaping were unbelievable. I took several videos. It’s probably easiest with a rental car because it’s far from everything, but I used one of their bikes and loved the simplicity of that. A few things I’d keep in mind: ask whether children will be staying at the same time. The shared spaces can get overwhelmed by their noise, and I wish the hotel were child-free. Most other visitors seemed to be couples without kids, and it would make a big difference for them. Check that all the tent zippers work, and close your tent when you’re out so raccoons don’t get in. Don’t leave snacks in the room outside the fridge, either. A headlamp is handy for extra light, especially if you bike around after the early sunsets.

There’s a small pool, a fire pit, and a shared kitchen, with wildlife all around and monkeys in the nearby trees. The bed was comfortable, and the outdoor shower felt great in the heat. We had a unique stay that exceeded our expectations. Several glamping units are tucked into thoughtfully designed landscaping, giving each group a private space. I’d recommend spending a couple of nights here for a different kind of stay in Costa Rica.

Sophie and Antoine were hands-on, welcoming, and helpful with arranging excursions and transport. Breakfast costs a little extra each day, but it’s worth it for the good coffee, fresh fruit, and local food. We spent a week here, and I’d suggest staying longer than a couple of nights to get to know the place and the community. The glamping tents are thoughtfully set up, with private bathrooms, outdoor showers, and big roof overhangs to keep rain and sun off the decks. Fans help with the heat, and the beds are very comfortable. The palapa dining and family room and the pool are great places to lounge or read. The layout and landscaping are wonderful, and howler monkeys still sleep in the trees nearby. We walked every day to beaches and restaurants, about 10 minutes to some good local spots and around 20 to Playa Grande. The beach is amazing, with great surf, and hasn’t been overwhelmed by resorts and development because a national park protects the turtles nesting there. You can walk for miles and only occasionally see surfers or sunbathers. Highly recommend Flor y Bambu!
