Nammbú Beachfront Bungalows

The strange lack of bathroom doors left us feeling exposed in the shower. Frosted glass or louvered bathroom doors could provide privacy and airflow. The hotel asks guests to reuse towels, but there are no towel bars and just one hook in a double room that could hold four people. Those were the drawbacks in an otherwise wonderful stay. The property is beautiful and well maintained, the views of Playa Carrillo are unforgettable, and the breakfast buffet has great variety. The staff are fantastic too, especially Alfredo, will the real Slim Shady please stand up? Highly recommend!

The hotel itself is great, with ocean views, a nice pool, a good restaurant, and a path down to the beach. You do have to cross a very busy road on the way. Google Maps is unreliable for getting there, though. It sent us down an alley and along roads that don't even exist. The rooms are huge but feel a bit odd because most of the space is empty. That's not necessarily a problem, but the lack of towel hooks, outlets, and bedside lights gets annoying.

The view from the room was fantastic, and the room itself was beautiful and very spacious. But there was nowhere to hang clothes, so our dresses, trousers, and everything else had to stay in the suitcase for the whole week. I guess most guests don't stay that long. Breakfast pricing was strange too. On busy days, an omelette and/or pancake was included, but when there were fewer guests, we had to pay an extra $12 for the same thing.

The rooms were huge, nicely decorated, and clean, and the hotel was well maintained. The staff were super polite and friendly, and you could tell they cared. The pool was nice, there were plenty of pool towels, and the hotel food by the pool was high quality. The location is excellent, just a few steps from great Carrillo beach, which is perfect for long walks and people of all ages. A few things could be improved, like the bathroom doors, wardrobe or extra hangers, bathroom hooks, and a rack for drying swimsuits. Still, this was the best place in Costa Rica for my family, and we'd definitely come back.
