Umami Hotel - Adults Only

A lovely little hotel at a good price, and a short walk from some great activities. The walk does pass through an area that doesn’t feel like what you’d usually see around a five-star hotel, though I guess the five stars are relative. It’s a beautiful spot, and I’d highly recommend it.

We had a spacious, clean, and comfortable room, and the staff were very friendly and helpful. The service was good and breakfast was delicious. We stayed three nights and were very happy with the experience. We had bikes, but everything is easy to reach on foot too. A lovely stay, and we’d definitely recommend it.

A relaxing atmosphere, comfortable rooms, and excellent service make Hotel Umami a real gem in Puerto Viejo. The property is beautiful, and the beach and town are both close by. The staff are super friendly. I’d definitely recommend it to anyone visiting Costa Rica’s Caribbean side!

The complimentary breakfast was a real highlight. There were three choices each day, all prepared beautifully, and we ate out only once during the whole week. Huge thanks as well to the Umami team, especially Angel, Tony, and Raymundo at the front desk. They were knowledgeable, attentive, friendly, and funny. I’d seen some negative comments and wanted to share our experience. The hotel was peaceful and quiet during the week. There were more guests and more noise on the weekend, naturally, but it felt no different from any other hotel. And if you’re concerned about not getting bottled water in the room, there’s a free water fountain by reception where you can refill a bottle anytime. I highly recommend the hotel.
