Apartamento Karibu

Rosa was a wonderful hostess and gave us helpful recommendations. My boyfriend and I enjoyed our stay at Karibu. The rustic rooms were clean, with large beds and A/C, and the indoor/outdoor shower was a nice feature. The house is tucked away with a lovely garden and terrace. It's affordable and set away from the tourist strip of manuel antonio, but still close enough to get to the park easily. The local beach is a must. You can hear monkeys and birds, which adds to the experience, though light sleepers might want earplugs and an eye mask.

Our booking through booking.com was confirmed, and we traveled there, only to be told the place was unavailable because the host needed 24 hours' notice. We accepted that, but then the host wouldn't cancel the booking. Instead, we were told we could wait until midnight for a no-show to register and automatically cancel it. I can only read that as unwillingness to cancel, or an attempt to get money from us, since we'd be charged as no-shows. For the record, we arrived within the stated check-in window, with an hour to spare.

Rosa is fantastic, and the kitchen has everything you need. There's a nice beach close by. Keep an eye on your belongings there, though. A couple are working the area, and the woman has dyed red hair.
