Millenium Hostels - Manuel Antonio

William at reception was kind, welcoming, and always ready to help or offer recommendations. The free breakfast was a nice extra, and the pool was a good place to unwind after time in the park. The location made everything easy. Manuel Antonio National Park is just a minute away on foot, and the beach is a short walk too. We had a wonderful stay at the Millennium Hotel and would happily recommend it for visiting both the park and the beach.

We paid $330 USD for what felt like a hole in the wall. My family and I stayed on New Year’s Eve, and the place felt more like a motel than a hotel for the luxury price. They were supposed to put our rooms side by side, but their mistake left us at opposite ends of the property. We weren’t drinking or smoking, just quietly playing dominoes by the pool as a family, when a security guard yelled at us aggressively and told us to go to bed. We weren’t allowed to have any kind of celebration that night. There were very few breakfast choices, and the kettle still had spoiled milk from the day before. Our room backed onto a noisy parking lot, the showerhead leaked, and there was mold. Getting in and out of the property was also extremely difficult. When I raised all this with the receptionist, she was rude and dismissive, with no empathy or attempt to fix anything. Afterward we stayed at another hotel in Punta Leona that was much better, had more food choices, and cost less. I wouldn’t recommend this place. Save your time and money.

The location is handy for both the park and beach, and breakfast is included, with fruit, toast, and eggs. The balcony and pool were decent too. The rooms are a mixed bag, though. Some are okay, others smell really bad, the AC doesn’t work well, and in some rooms the hot shower doesn’t work. Furnishings are basic, with no hooks for hanging things or tables to put stuff on. Parking is limited to six spaces, costs $10 for 12 hours, and if you arrive late you may not find a spot.

The front desk staff were very helpful, and I liked having coffee available all the time. Breakfast was okay, and the location is excellent. The rooms are average, though, and the WiFi kept cutting in and out throughout our stay.
