Passifloras Hostel

I don't usually write reviews, but I had such a nice time at this hostel that I wanted to say thanks. They welcomed me so warmly and shared lots of useful local advice, from things to do around Quepos and bus schedules to cheap places to eat. In the morning, there was a sweet note with homemade banana bread and fruit. I even got a ride all the way to San Jose for my embassy visit to get a new passport. Some of the kindest hospitality I've experienced!

Alison was a lovely host, and the hostel felt cozy, especially with all the plants and lights she put up. The common areas were comfortable, the rooms were clean and had AC, and the location was great, close to the water and grocery stores. We woke up to a nice note and some snacks. The kitchen had all the pots, pans, and utensils we needed. They cleaned in the morning, midday, and evening, and shared ideas for things to do in town. Alison was also quick to respond on WhatsApp. I really recommend it!

The family who runs this hostel is the best part. Daniela and Alison were so accommodating, quick to reply on WhatsApp, and arranged reasonably priced tours through local, ethical providers. It's in a great spot in Quepos. Just know that it can get quite hot inside during the day. For daytime air conditioning, I'd suggest booking a private room, since the dorm AC only comes on at 7pm. We had a great stay and would happily come back.

I wanted to leave this while I'm still at Passifloras, before I forget. The price is great for what you get, and I like the comfortable beds, the dorm's good temperature, the useful hostel kitchen, and the location. But Alison and Daniela are the real reason I'm writing. They're two of the loveliest hosts I've met in more than a year of travelling around the world. Both are so friendly, kind, accommodating, and full of helpful information for guests. My boyfriend and I arrived later than we'd said we would because of classic Costa Rica traffic, and they told us they'd been a little worried. They're just so sweet. I can't imagine finding better service for such a reasonable price in Quepos. I only wish we'd booked more nights and had more time to get to know them. They were made for this work. Highly recommend booking here for a few days in Quepos or for a visit to MA. One of the girls also baked us delicious banana bread, which was free.
