The Falls by Lalibela

Be aware: The Falls Resort cancelled our booking and kept our $1,000. My wife and I were due to stay there in March 2026, during high season, and had prepaid through our travel agent. Because of the geopolitical emergency and airspace closures in Israel that month, we had to cancel our dates under Force Majeure. Other suppliers in Costa Rica refunded us, but The Falls initially refused when our agent contacted them. After a long email exchange, they agreed to give us a room voucher. We rebooked for May, low season, when the room cost $200 less. We asked to use that balance toward something on site, such as a restaurant meal, but management said the voucher could only pay for the room. After a long phone conversation, the reservations clerk agreed to a refund, but management overruled her and refused again. The conversation got heated as we pushed back on their position. Management then emailed that they were cancelling our reservation and would report us to police if we set foot in the hotel. They barred us from the property but didn't mention returning the $1,000. They are legally compelled to refund services not provided, but intend to keep it as unearned profit. We stayed at the beautiful 5-star Parador in Manuel Antonio instead of dealing with this dubious 3-star property. Since returning from vacation, I've decided to pursue the case relentlessly. I'm filing a formal consumer fraud and tax irregularity complaint with the Costa Rican Ministry of Finance (Ministerio de Hacienda) against the hotel's registered legal entity, THE FALLS AT MANUEL ANTONIO S.A. (Cédula Jurídica: 3-101-531362), and with the Consumer Protection Bureau (MEIC). Costa Rica has many wonderful, honest hospitality businesses, but I wouldn't trust this specific hotel with your money. They don't care about customer well-being, satisfaction, or fairness. They only care about money, gained by any and all means.

Birdsong and the sound of the trees greet you as soon as you step out of your room. The nature and setting make it feel like another world, and we had an incredible time. Our room was clean and cute, with amazing decorations and everything guests need. Room service was great, and our beach towels were replaced every time we went. There's a little grocery store, coffee shop, and a few restaurants nearby, but you really shouldn't miss the hotel's restaurant. The food was amazing. I love this hotel and will come back next time I'm in Costa Rica.

The staff made the stay feel effortless. They were so friendly, attentive, and caring, and took care of every detail. The Falls Resort itself is stunning, with beautifully designed, cozy, elegant rooms that felt like a tropical escape. My stay was incredible, and I'd go back in a heartbeat.

The porch was a great place to read and watch the squirrel monkeys play, and the spacious, clean room and attractive pool added to the relaxed feel. The setting was lush, and the restaurant and bar staff were friendly and helpful. Shout out especially to Olandra and Alex. The food was tasty too. We loved everything about our stay at The Falls Resort and would happily visit again if we're in the area.
