La Aldea Hostel

We never actually stayed here. My friend and I were trying to get to Santa Teresa when our group shuttle was canceled, so we went to the reception desk at la Aldea for advice. The man there was very kind and helped us find a way to Santa Teresa at the best price available that day. The hostel was clean and felt safe, and the staff looked after us really well while we were there. It's right in town, with a cute coffee shop across the street. Everyone on staff was friendly and kind.

The location and atmosphere are great, and the Wi-Fi was strong enough for work and video calls. There's lots of common space, though the kitchen was a bit grungy. Our room wasn't spotless, but it was clean enough, and the volunteers were lovely and helpful whenever we needed something. There was no AC, and the heat at night was rough. The showers barely had any water pressure.

Ricardo and William made us feel like family as soon as we arrived. They had great tips for beaches, food, bike rentals, and more. Aldea is a lovely place to relax or meet other travelers, and there's a fantastic food truck court right behind the hostel. If you're lucky, one of the vendors might even make you something special. I can't wait to come back. Thank you!

The people and staff are friendly, but I would never stay here again. The rooms are extremely hot, right on the street, and badly ventilated, so they feel even hotter than they should without AC. You can pay the same somewhere else and get AC, and I'd definitely do that. You'll have trouble sleeping here.
