Hotel Cypresal

The valley lights at night are something I can't wait to look at again, all twinkling across the divide. We found the place on Google Maps, then called, and Ron got our reservation sorted out quickly. Just text him next time and, if you give a fairly sure arrival time, he can have a fireplace room ready with the fire going. Miriam kept us well fed and was really attentive. We'll be back on our next trip. Save us a seat, Miriam!

The breakfast was incredible, and our group also had homemade pizza with live music. The cabins have a rugged, elegant feel and those views are gorgeous. Ours had a fireplace already set up with matches ready. Thanks, Ronnie, for making our stay so lovely.

Ronnie was very welcoming, and my boys had loads of room to play outside. We live in Jaco and know the heat, so the cooler air at Cypresal felt like home to me as an Expat Canadian. Nearly every chalet has a fireplace, which was great. The food was top notch, and he let us try local treats, including homemade artisanal cheese and smoked trout. If you want quiet, good food, and good people, make the trip up to the mountains of Barva and stay at Cypresal.

The grounds are green and lovely, with wide views over the cities below and the mountains, plus an amazing sunset. The cabenas were clean and cozy, and we found the staff kind and very accommodating. Hotel Cypresal is also close to adventure parks, restaurants, and lots of nature to explore. Ronnie was considerate and helpful, and his Costa Rica experience made his suggestions useful. His stories were funny and informative. The restaurant meals were delicious too.
